Norwich or any old small city downtown after the jobs are gone. Small cities once the community hub for the surrounding towns, of the middle class. Beautiful well constructed buildings empty. What stories they could tell! A port city Ship Captains, hundreds of years of growth. But now we have disposable mini malls built to last till your tax break runs out and you move up the street a block [with another tax break?] to sell drugs with a drive through window. Behind you leave a big empty ugly building what stories can it tell a couple OMGs and a text message in comparison. But don’t worry the Arts will come to the rescue, brother can you spare a dime? Lets publish a calendar and do it all with amateurs photos so we don’t have to pay artists they will be around when volunteers are needed to bring the city back or at least be there for the rhetoric. enjoy pjc
Boa Island on Uconn Campus
To the far right of what used to be the center of the Left is Boa Island. As they tear down the former Campus Restaurant I wonder if the island will be torn down or grow in the New Storrs Center. Wonder who owns the mortgage on the buildings on Dog Lane? Phil’s gone “take paradise and put up a parking lot.” enjoy pjc
Nice Former tree in background a shady place to sit while Storrs Automotive worked on your VW Beetle or Volvo.
Seasons and Metaphors in my life
Film in the Summer of my vision. Charlie Sanborn called me the best available darkness photographer. The stage was always too dark yet the emotion shined through. The rectangle was alive, the moment was there. I perch somewhere between here and there balanced precariously looking back on freedom.
In March of 2001 I moved to Norwich and took a similar image in B+W here seven years later I start making digital images. Perhaps it is appropriate that I start using the new Artifiscal intelligence on a cold damp night for it is now winter in the season of photographic art. It is also winter in Amerika. enjoy pjc
