Ah, yes! Noel has made her way up to Maine. As I sit here typing, the winds are howling and revealing all of the holes I need to seal around my windows before the really cold weather arrives. My drapes are dancing tirelessly as the winds sing with woeful echoes through the cracks in the doors and windows. The rain is coming in sheets and my Explorer once again gets a free fall car wash.
I went to the veterinary hospital today to get some stuff for my flea-infested cat. The poor thing has scraped herself raw and has scabs all over from scratching so incessantly. The pesticide has them jumping off of her already. She was sitting on my lap as I was reading a book at Minor White and the fleas were jumping onto the pages as I read, where they soon met their demise under my thumb. Those little bastards are hard to kill. As I thought of the fleas under my thumb, I thought of my Constitutional rights if Hillary gets elected into the Oral, er, Oval Office. Years ago our country was ruled Lex Rex (Latin for “Law is King”), but now the tides have shifted dramatically and we are a Rex Lex aristocracy under the ever-watchful eye of ‘Dubya’ and company. “Hey,” says G.W. “If the Constitution has something in it that I don’t like, I’ll just ignore it or change it because if the President does it, it can’t be wrong.” Thank you, King George.
Well, on that note, it’s back to editing photos for me. I have some advertising pieces I need to come up with to announce my new studio in town and I want to blanket mail all of the local businesses and try to get some commercial work. Commercial work scares me but it’s big money and that is exactly what I need right now…lots of money.
